So Cigman reach out to me a to see I wanted to review one of their 3-360 Laser Levels… Funny thing is at first I thought it was spam and ignored it but above a couple of times I played along and they sent me the CM-701 3-360 Laser Level to review.
At first I wasn’t to sure what to expect and in reality and being honest I have never really done any reviews of a product before. However I stated in the exchange that I will not be told what to say, and I will call a spade a spade saying the good the bad the ugly… However to be up front I was pleasantly surprised by the product.
The laser it self comes in a nice carry case with a hard foam that holds all the parts together. It isn’t a hard carry case but should secure enough for carrying it around.
What’s in the box;
- x1 3-360 CM-701 Laser Level
- Mini tripod
- L-Mounting Bracket
- Remote Control
- USB to USB-c cable
- Focus Plate
- Manual
The actual CM-701 seems to be pretty good quality and made of plastic with a molding over it. It is compact but has most of the features you need.
Switching the unit on the side of the unit will put the unit into unlock or self leveling mode. The CM-701 will self level if it can with in the +- 4 degree’s. To put the unit into locked mode ensure the side switch is in the locked position. This locks the laser pendulum’s and to switch on press and hold the power button on the top unit this will turn the unit on the pendulums in locked mode.
You can adjust what beams you want on or off or how bright they are via the buttons on the top of the unit and the remote control. Using the remote means you are not going to bump the unit when pushing the buttons on the unit.
The mini tripod has both the 1/4 inch and 5/8 mounting and has a nice feature that you can fine tune the rotation of the unit by turning a small knob on the side. Each of the legs on the mini tripod can individually be adjusted for height so you can fine tune the level.
The unit comes with a L-bracket that you can mount anywhere via as it has a key hole that you can screw onto a frame and hang. The same bracket also has some magnets that can be mounts off any metal frame or even a metal tool box, shelf unit etc.
The battery is non removable but rechargeable via the USB port and cable. You don’t got a power adapter or plug so you will need to plug it into a computer USB or use a USB plug you already own. Personally I think Cigman should add one to the pack. The other thing I would have liked to see was a braided USB cable.
Over all I like the unit and was pleasantly surprised with it.
