It can easily be made with just hand tools as well. I have also used a round over bit on the router to round over the edges on both sides. If you don&#8217;t have a router then you could just sand or bevel plan it.<br \/>Then sand the entire block.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2430\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2430\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2430\" src=\"https:\/\/wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder3-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2430\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Measure height of stacked coasters, add 10mm for the hole plus an extra 5mm for margin. Cut dowel rod using a saw. You will want to do this with a fine tooth saw if you only have a cross cut saw try a hack saw.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2431\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2431\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2431\" src=\"https:\/\/wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wackywoodworks.co.nz\/www\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/coaster_holder4-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2431\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Use grinder to quickly smooth the cut and put slight bevel on the dowel. This took about 20 minutes to make and 10 minutes of that was finding the right bit of scrap wood. If you don&#8217;t have dowel you can buy a short length for about $2.00 from your local supplier ie; in NZ Mitre10Mega or Bunnings<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a nice simple project any one can do.
