Water Tank Wood Storage

Before the rack on top of the water tank. It was a bit messy and well limited to how much wood can be put there before it interferes with the infeed pipe. So I need to build a free stand two tier reack that sits on frame and clears the required height. I am also not going to buy any wood and use what I have lying around.

So, think about a plan… it has to sit on top of the frame of the water tank… hmmmm and sit above and clear the in feed pipe. It will have to be a bit unconventional me’s think.

An idea… Should work… The four corner poles go below inside the frame to stop it sliding off etc.

Better work gone to far now for it not to work…

Yeah should work… I know it is strong enough it held my fat arse as I was screwing down the back planks. Now I hear you asking why not build the frame on the deck and bring in. Well the confined space it has to be assembled on top of the tank else I won’t be able to get the frame in.. I also hear you asking why not make the corner posts square and not at a 45… well then the weight on the tank frame would be on the down struts of the frame and it is only light aluminum. This way it also pushing not pulling and becomes a bit stronger…

wahoo… it works… one removable storage rack siting on top of water tank in a pretty confined space.

Cool… done. I have also now bought wood from the other temporary storage stops and loaded her up… The only issue I really had was try to keep things square and level… which was it is not 100% because;

  • The tank itself is not 100% level.
  • Squeezing myself in to the tight spot at the back to screw down.
  • The actual design to meet the requirements made it difficult to do.

However I am not worried it close enough only another woodworker would notice (oh and those that are now reading this) I would be regarding this as a bit of Kiwi back yard can do. It is out of sight and is stable and strong enough to hold my weight so I have no issue of putting wood up there.
